I ‘d be proud to grow an artichoke, a scaly, Jurassic, giraffe of the thistle family. I’d tend it attentively and off-handedly drag visitors outside to admire my horticultural prowess. At harvest time I’d hesitate, questioning my worthiness. How does one appropriately savor and celebrate such a prickly pièce de résistance?
